150V from a plant!
« on: December 18, 2018, 09:17:29 am »
It's dark, we light the plants. Just connect an electrical outlet to the base of the drum to turn on ten LED bulbs: the equivalent of 150 volts.

"We proceeded by trial, beating on the leaves of oleander in search of the best material and frequency" - Somebody needs to call the RSPCP

Oh ok. This is why we call them power plants.

Either those are humongous LEDs or they're an order of magnitude out. I suspect someone has missed a . from in front of the 0.

California used to love oleanders as barriers along freeways, there are less of them because of droughts lately.  But about 20 years ago I saw a vehicle crash through about a hundred meter long path of oleanders at dusk; funny I didn’t see any sparks.

They don't claim it's 150V, but "the equivalent of 150V". Whatever that is... :palm:

.15 volts actual and then making some impossible assumption that it could supply 1000x more current into the same load, if it really wanted to (some people say singing to plants makes them grow - maybe the appropriate type of music makes them supply more power). Or supply the same current into a 1000x lower impedance load.
