It's time to shut this section down, this wins, without question.

Now, I'm off to take my blender with me jogging.

.... just think, someone took the time to write this script, make this video, record this audio... it just seems to go on and on and I wonder if this video ever ends.

..."rejiggering [Apple's] iPhones"...

Did this video really just say "rejiggering"?

KEYWORDS: 'craze' 'nano' 'crystal' 'set to begin' 'will' 'absolutely'
Marketing words of the week.

Sadly they bring respected names like Stephen Hawking in to their mumbo-jumbo.

BTW going by the Pogue quote, it appears that it's Energous that this is talking about. It's a very weird form of... market manipulation?
I don't really understand these kinds of schemes... I guess they're either trying to pump the Energous share-price (but then wouldn't they say it's about Energous?) or to sell some kind of investment advice?

I've seen similar kind of hyperbole in emails from the Motley Fool... Who seemed to have a reasonable reputation at some point...

Holy cow, does this video ever end???

I wonder, has there ever been "anything" that is introduced in this manner that has turned out to be legitimate?

Well, I don't know - but then I didn't stay around to the end (and there's no telling how far that was away).

The claims are outstanding and the name-dropping second to none, but there's nothing else.  I have to admit the idea of taking your blender onto the subway/bus/whatever was a great source of bemusement.

I can only think the hype goes on and on and on and on for so long that only the true "believer" would become so hypnotised that they would hang around to the end ... whatever that might be.

You know what is sad about these things: someone actually created most of them not to rip people off but because they thought it would work. Here's how it goes:

1. MBA comes up with what they think is a really good idea but can't implement it because that's someone else's job.
2. Being an MBA he/she looks at marketing and funding first.
3. Investors sling a few tens of K at the MBA after a powerpoint.
4. This is used to do two things: (a) secure more funding for research and engineering and (b) further marketing, kickstarters etc (you just watched that).
5. MBA tries to find engineers.
6. Engineers piss themselves laughing and roll around the floor uncontrollably.
7. MBA doesn't understand this, assuming engineers don't have a can do attitude and goes and finds more engineers.
8. After a few weeks one turns up who will just take the MBA's money while buying toys and doing nothing at all.
9. Eventually the investors ask about their return, which is non existent.
10. MBA folds the idea, blaming the engineers for not implementing his idea.
11. Go to (1)

The travesty is the programmed belief that you can solve every problem with money and the right people without having to understand viability or the constraints placed on you. And that's an MBA.

Recently we had a company suggesting that we performed a computation for them on their data. We threw it at our algo guys and they said that it wasn't viable as the complexity was factorial meaning it would take longer than the lifetime of the universe to compute what they wanted. Company went elsewhere for 7 months and was told the same everywhere. Came back because we were the cheapest in the end and didn't ask us about that feature :)

No! the guy literally never shuts his pie hole. The video goes on and on until  the heat death of the universe or you succumb and cry uncle by sending him money.

Once I had to respond to a guy who had an idea so revolutionary and exciting that he was afraid to tell us as he was sure the idea would be stolen. Finally I got him to reveal "it was a camera that would weigh things". A camera that when you pointed it at an object would tell the operator how much the object weighs. I began to explain to him concepts such as density but he quickly cut me short, as I was sciencing him too much. Just make it so and we would get a small royalty, 0.5% or there about, of the huge profit.

I was doing something on my second screen while he was rambling on.  All I can say is that the next 8 minutes or so was pretty much the same.

Then it got more than I could bear, even in the background.

I took it as a personal challenge to see the video through to its end. It goes on for an excess of 30 minutes, close to 40 I think. Ultimately he wants to sell you his "Nova X Report".

I admire your fortitude .... and, at the same time, question your sanity.

However, I do appreciate your bringing some sense of purpose for the rambling.   :-+

Yeah my sanity is sometimes questionable. That video was amazing to me. Not in a good way, rather in the way that I was amazed that someone would put so much effort into such garbage :wtf: ... or not really that, but that the method he used is a successful method which explains why he would go to all the trouble.  I guess what amazes me is that there are people that will buy into this. How is this method so effective, how do these peoples' brains work that fall for it?  :palm:

Then I remember who our president is... :o   :-DD

I'm definitely a little bit stupider after giving that video my attention, maybe can you tell? I do not recommend watching it, it wasn't worth it.

Umm, cordless electricity in Stephen Hawking's "Science of the Future":

http://youtu.be/1gJetuxUdsM?t=40m32s

That should start playing at the relevant point (40m 32s). As cringe worthy as Ubeam.

Stephen Hawking for sure has made significant contributions to cosmology, etc, but particularly in his popular writings for the inquisitive layman, he was quite a quack.

I gave up after 30 minutes.
Anyway, I can afford to. I made my fortune investing in solar roadways and Batteroos.  :palm:
