Title: Global wireless enery grid! (does it smell,or..?)
Post by: ddmeltzer8 on December 10, 2018, 03:11:21 am
Hi.
I recently found this company that claims to be able use the Zenneck surface wave to distribute electricity globally-wireless!
http://vizivtechnologies.com/ (http://vizivtechnologies.com/)
I think this seems a bit good to be true, but im not an electrical engineer...

Please let me know what y guys think.
Cheers.

The same as in the OP on that link actually, guess they needed to change name to protect the guilty...

Google shows this thread as first hit:

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/dodgy-technology/bullshit-texzon-wireless-power/ (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/dodgy-technology/bullshit-texzon-wireless-power/)

which should tell you all you need to know about the bullshit claims being made.

Did they go by another name before? It wouldnt surprise me...
Cheers.

They've gone by a few names, Viziv, Texzon and I think one or two others as well, they're astroturfing threads which are critical of them.

The other thread (linked below) contains everything you need to know (and notice the multiple new accounts jumping into the thread to defend the tech or company)

That's what I said, the "http://www.texzontechnologies.com/" link in the first post of the other thread now redirects to this one's "http://vizivtechnologies.com/"...

That smells like something went wrong or didn't happen and they're rerolling the turd in glitter to get some more funding.

I think I have said in the other thread or before that if something comes out of this then I'll buy a hat and eat it. I will never have to buy a hat or eat it.

I read the other thread and it seems that "Bullshit: Texzon Wireless Power" was actually the #1 Google result for their name - probably why they changed it. Dave should update the thread title and add Viziv now... @EEVBlog

Texzon (Viziv) ((Nupower)) is apparently at tradeshows, and from this reviewer YT video (https://goo.gl/6uFKgf) it now looks like they've sold their system to Bahrain.   Search trademarks, and it shows that "Viziv" was registered in March 2018.

How about a desktop demo?  Do it at 440MHz, with little bitty 2cm resonant towers, perhaps connected to a giant metal sheet (such as the side of a warehouse?  Aluminum boat?  Quonset hut?)  Anyone have access to a two-meter vandegraaff sphere?    But here's a simpler 1-D version: hook the base of a tiny Tesla coil to a very long wire (many wavelengths,) then drive the coil at resonance using a coupling loop.  Shouldn't all the fields say local, within 1/4 lambda?  The 'zenneck' stuff is about waves that are supposedly launched by this system, and go zooming off down the long wire.  If the wire is a resonant length, will large standing waves appear on it?  (It shouldn't experience RF losses to radiation, since the e-field is perpendicular, so, unlike with longwire antennas, the wattage is only supposed to travel parallel to the wire.)

Post a proper YT link please? I'm shy of clicking shortened links if I don't know the poster
