The Project Tesla Solar Powered Smartphone.

You need 30 hours of direct sunlight to charge it's own battery, not counting the iPhone's battery.

Let the flaming commence:

If I had to find a direct sun-lit location to leave my phone, everyday, never using the phone except for around every third day, someone will most likely steal it the moment I look away or accidentally forget the phone at it's optimum sunny location.

Is this a 4700$ joke?

I guess if I went hiking in the desert, with nothing to block the sun, I could strap it to the top of my hat and get 1/3 of a charge in 10 hours of hiking.

It's not BS, it will work. Practicality though - that's another whole ballgame.

I think it would melt in the desert's sun's heat.
