Can you review my PCB board layout?
« on: February 14, 2017, 10:17:30 pm »
Hello guys! I've been learning on how to use Eagle for the last 3 days I guess. And I made this pcb layout, but I am kinda unaware if it is right or not. Here is the preview:

I have some problems (I  think) with the copper pour I use (I have 1 plane for GND @ Top layer and Power @Bottom Layer). It's just that the edge (the white line) of the arduino library I use, "cuts" the copper pour (marked in yellow).

And leaves unconnected some GND and +5V pads (The yellow line indicators that they have to be connected).

What is the best way to solve that?

Probably because you are using the Dimension layer 20 in the wrong way.
Upload your .sch and .brd files so that we can have a look.

Hiya,

I'm not sure what Arduino library you are using but I have seen people with this issue previously when they used an Arduino library part that was intended for making shields, which basically gives you the board outline, connectors etc for you to then add components to, rather than using one which treats the Arduino as a component to be added to the board....

Best Regards,

Rachael

Oh hello @rachelp. You have showed/taught/educated me on my first pcb layout on element14 forum. You've been great. Thanks again.

Yes, please upload at least the .brd file (use zip, if necessary).   In addition to what has been mentioned, you may have some pads that should be included in the ground pour, but at not.  Most likely reason, they are not named correctly.

For me it definitly looks like you have importet some kind of board and did forget to remove its outline (Dimension).

I would just remove the dimension lines that are to much, if it's not a footprint.

The other guys are right: a brd file would help a lot.

The original poster has never returned to this thread, for about a week now.
I think we can forget about this (as he apparently has).

I think he don't need any answer now, May be he found the solution.

It would have been courteous to pop back on and say thanks and let us know he's got it solved though.... Would have taken two minutes....
