Title: DRC for eagle
Post by: robotly on November 22, 2016, 01:53:01 pm
Hi, is there any suggestion for Eagle DRC? I did a single layer PCB with Eagle, before I send the file to PCB fab I want to know whether the 0 mil tolerance of the board Edge is ok?

Thanks

who's the fabricator ?
they often have a DRC file on their website you can download to check your board against

Here are some of the great suggestion on DRC for Eagle. https://www.element14.com/community/thread/4333/l/suggestions-for-drc-command (https://www.element14.com/community/thread/4333/l/suggestions-for-drc-command)

?!?

The discussion in this thread is about using the DRC, and how to set up the DRC parameters. I don't think anyone here wanted to develop the DRC implementation. And, last time I looked, Eagle was not open source anyway...

This tends to depend on the particular board fabricator (I'm not sure why.)   The eagle default is 40mils (HUGE!), and I try to avoid fine tracks near the edge (just cause I've USED router bits...), but I don't have any worries about letting the ground plane get within 10mil or so of the edge...

A long time ago, I wrote an instructable suggesting that most hobbyists should adjust the DRC parameters so that the resulting board is easier for hobbyists to build (and more robust, physically.)   https://www.instructables.com/id/Make-hobbyist-PCBs-with-professional-CAD-tools-by-/ (https://www.instructables.com/id/Make-hobbyist-PCBs-with-professional-CAD-tools-by-/)
