Automating larger package creation using Excel
« on: October 28, 2014, 12:54:54 am »
I've always enjoyed finding ways to use Excel to make my job easier. I've put together the below spreadsheet to easily create larger footprints.

There's still some work to make it more automated, but the idea is that you would update your pad information, create additional rows depending on the number of sides and pins you have, and then drag down the formulas.

When you've done this, you simply need to copy column F and paste it into the command area in Eagle and you can watch your footprint being created before your eyes. It's actually kind of fin to watch on larger packages.

Enjoy!

It's a great trick. Copy paste the pinlist from the datasheet and create the pins/pads in symbol/package designer including the name.
The names are the most annoying of all to do manually.

This look very useful. I made few improvements. Now you can use two row or four row tabs and just put parameters and excel will calculate pads for you. Maybe new improvements other time.

Enjoy!
