Title: How to edit pin numbers in eagle cad (newbie question)

i wanted to edit one component to suit my need but i just cant get those pinout to show numbers i want this program is seriously hard to learn if u don't ask around

I think pin numbers are shown if you have the 'visible' field for the pin (in the symbol editor) set to 'pad' or 'both'.  The 'pin' setting will just show the name of the (symbol) pin at the inside end of the pin, whereas the 'pad' option shows the name of the (package) solder pad/pin alongside the pin.  If you follow me, ugh.
