How to group parts in PCB editor

I was wondering is there a way to group parts in the PCB editor semi permanently. What i'm drawing my question from is how MS Office can group art elements. For example, a smiley face is drawn using a circle and some lines. Every part of the smiley face is highlighted, right click, and select group. From there forth the multiple pieces of the smiley face are now one object and can be moved as one util the un-group us used.

The reason i'm asking is i like to put together small blocks of a bigger board first and then put the blocks together. The best example is the Microchip MCP73811 lithium ion charging IC. The data sheet gives a very nice layout with resistor and capacitor placement, ground and power plane placement for heat sinking and via placement. After i put the block together i can use the group tool to move what i designed into the boarders of the PCB. After placing other things into the PCB i want to move the charging block over to give more room to rout things but using the group tool to select just the components of the charging block becomes very difficult with other things in the way. If the components could remain "stuck" together it would make moving the block substantially easier.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you, it's not something I've come across in EAGLE, but I really like the idea. If you don't get an answer here I suggest you first search then ask and/or make a suggestion on the EAGLE Central forum, there are a lot of experienced users as well as EAGLE employees there to pass on good suggestions (like this IMHO) to the developers.
