Isolated ground planes - how to?
« on: April 10, 2015, 05:57:48 am »
How does one create an isolated ground plane in Eagle such as one to go beneath a crystal?  I've tried rectangles and polygons and am baffled as to how to do it aside from building a custom IC footprint with the ground plane in there as a SMT pad. Is there a better way?

Use the Polygon tool to draw the contour of the plane.
Use the Name command to give the polygon a name matching the net to which you want the polygon connected.
If it's a polygon within a polygon you use the Rank setting of the polygons to tell which one is "subtracted" from which - so to speak.
