Library for PC mount QD terminals?
« on: July 07, 2014, 05:50:56 am »
I'm trying to make a library for this: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/0197054001/WM2982-ND/2405514

In a nutshell, it's two through-hole pads 67 mils in diameter 200 mils apart. The wrinkle is that the two pads are electrically connected by the part. What I want to do is drop a polygon on both sides of the board between the two pads to make a two-hole "über" pad.

I can't make the two pads the same name. I can't name the polygons at all. I can connect and append the two pads to the same pin on the symbol, but I wind up with an airwire between the two pads I have to ignore.

1. Is there a library for this part already somewhere?

2. If not, how can I make a library that will do the right thing?

I think I found a workaround. I changed the pads to offset pads and spun one around. That made the correct basic shape. Then I drew a line on the top layer between the centers of the two holes. That line doesn't do anything meaningful, but it moots the airwire that would otherwise be between the two pads.
