Dimensioning Imbedded Eagle Parts/Footprints
« on: January 12, 2012, 05:44:45 am »
I have a Eagle drawing that has a part/footprint that I need to get detailed dimensions of the outline and solder footprint.  The component isn't part of any standard library and I can't locate it anywhere on the net.  I guess the part/footprint is somehow imbebed into the Eagle file.  I use DipTrace as it was a much easier transition from my many years of modeling complex drawings in AutoCAD.  My success with Eagle has been minimal at best.  I have been able to figure out how to get dimensions for the pad locations but I can't figure out how to dim the outline.  Any tips or tricks?  Thanks!

EAGLE has a ULP that will export the parts from a sch/brd file to a new library.  Once the part is in a library, you can look at it with the library editor, which should make getting the dimensions relatively easy (individual lines and pads will report info and coordinates via the "info" command/etc.)
Use "run exp-project-lbr"

Or you could print it and measure it...

Thanks westfw!  Exactly what I was looking for. The ULP gave me exactly what I was looking for.
