Library part for IC containing multiple components.
« on: October 09, 2013, 11:39:01 am »
Hi All,

All the library tutorials I've seen cover the case where the whole of device is used in one location on a schematic. i.e. the schematic symbol has all of the pins on it.

What I want to do is create a part for a 6x Schmitt trigger inverter. So the schematic will have six inverters and two power pins which I want to split up and place around my schematic

Does anyone have any hints and tips on how to do this?

On a related note, I'm having a play around with existing parts that are like this. e.g. a 4001 quad NAND gate. When I place it on the schematic the NAND gates place one at a time, appearing as IC1A then IC1B, C, D etc then IC2A etc. How do I get the power pins to appear on the schematic?

Many thanks in advance!

To show the power pins, righ-click in any of the gates, Invoke and click on power and place the two pins where you want.
Never done a multi piece component in eagle, so I can't help you in that respect.

Aha! well you've solved one half of my mystery though. Thanks.

I'll have a crack at seeing if I can reverse engineer one of the existing parts to see how to create it.
