Circuit Maker - backing up files locally after release
« on: July 08, 2017, 02:33:53 pm »
Hi guys,
I am not sure if you are aware but you can download your Circuit Maker files and store them locally when the project is released.

The process is described here: https://circuitmaker.com/forum/posts/213465/1

That's having said you may have your own copy of design data forever. I was able to open my files in Altium Designer 17 without any problems.
It does not change the cloud thing but it is better than nothing.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Jiri

I don't use CM, just tried it once.  However I noticed all your project docs were locally stored under:
C:\ProgramData\Altium\CircuitMaker {some guid}\...

So you don't actually have to wait until it's released to take a copy of the PCB and sch files.

The problem for me (even for OS designs) was having to commit footprints and sch symbols to open cloud before verifying that they were correct.
