Sure, but which standard? There are so many choose from. Really, as soon as there is >1 standard it makes the whole thing pointless anyway, there is a 1/N chance of meeting any standard.

Humans are supposed to be smart, they should really be able to figure out two similar symbols are the same thing. Engineers always seem to suffer an excess of OCD.

KLC 4.2.iv  says - "IEC-style symbols are used whenever possible"
