Prototyping fab that accepts ODB++?
« on: April 25, 2018, 10:23:40 am »
I want to get a short run of some small, simple, 2 layer boards done. I don't have the original design files any longer, but I do have an ODB++ output which was previously used for manufacture. Ideally I would just like to send this to one of the "$5 for 10 prototypes" style fab houses as these are not complex/critical boards so there is no need to use a high end fab house and I cannot justify the cost associated with that, but I have not been able to find any of the cheap places that will accept the ODB++ format. Does anyone know of or can recommend anywhere?

Thanks.

As its a small run, I would say run with the more expensive guys if they will take it, and while your at it ask them to send you back a gerber copy, if there software can read it, they can likely convert it for you, and would give you the option of cheaper fabs in future.

ODB++ to gerber converters exist. You could try converting back to gerber and see what the output is like. This is probably what the board house would do anyway. It might be better to do it yourself to save some coin and make sure the gerbers look OK before sending them to be spun.
