eevBLAB #19 - State Of Electronics Documentary
« on: November 04, 2015, 12:33:02 am »
Dave, I went and watched the first section of that state of electronics documentary, the Roll Call. And even though I'm not Australian (about as far as it gets from it, distance wise,) I feel like you guys have a couple of really interesting people there, and I'd like to see a bit more about them. (Also, why did noone mention the Kurrajong Radio Museum when I asked for things to see in Sydney two years ago? It's on my todo list for next time.) Well, there's the documentary to watch now, but still, I have to voice this...

... Suggestion/Request: please try to get some more of those people on your show. They have interesting stories and experiences to share, and looking back to the guests you already had, the banter and enthusiasm you contribute when talking to them enhances their stories just that bit more*. Or do a couple more road trips with your camera, like the one to the TV station... maybe said museum in Kurrajong? I think I'd really enjoy that. I mean, for example, Dick Smith seems to be a bit of a personal hero to you, and judging by that documentary video, a great guy, it'd make for a really interesting episode if you visited him, or who knows, managed to convince him to hack together a small project with you.

* one caveat: going through that TV station for example, everything was new to me, being a hobbyist coming from software engineering and all. Your enthusiasm there certainly helped in making that episode interesting, but it also sped up explanations up to where they went above my digitally-minded head by a good margin. I'm not asking you to dumb things down, just to maybe allow an extra few seconds of explanation for those of us that aren't native to the old analog stuff?
