Agilent 36xx PSU promotion (Europe) - "free" Agilent U1272A DMM
« on: October 16, 2012, 03:56:16 am »
So I did a quick search on the forums and it looks like noone has reportet it yet, but it looks like the Agilent 36xx PSU promotion that has been around for a while in the US/Australia has finally reached Europe too.

Last time I checked it wasn't available in Europe.

http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/editorial.jspx?cc=DE&lc=ger&ckey=2204179&nid=-11143.0.00&id=2204179

So yeah guess we Euros will finally be able to get a good deal too. ~400€ for a (low end) E36xx PSU + 1272A DMM.
Sounds good to me.

The only shop offering the promotion I could find is this German one
http://shop.meilhaus.de/Agilent+Promotion+5-889.htm , and typically they don't serve private customers, only companies. Crap. Just found that out while I was writing this post.

Why am I still writing this, when I can't buy it.

Sigh, maybe it's of use to someone.

Florian

Ask Farnell if they run the promotion.

I did ask them on the 17th of August and they said they don't run this promotion.

However, the page you linked to on agilent.com lists the starts of the promotion as 1st of September so maybe this is a fresh promotion for EU only.

I'm no longer interested as I bought the Tenma power supply but maybe people reading this forum would be interested if Farnell does the promotion.

Here is Agilent's official list / search selector for sales partners in Europe. You can refine the search further by country. After that I guess it is firing off e-mails or picking up the phone to find one taking part in the promotion and being willing to sell to private customers.

http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/partnerfinder.jspx?cc=GB&lc=eng&pageMode=RS&N=1+187535+187554

Edit: Sorry, the link points to UK sales partners. You need to select Europe manually. For some reason one can't make a link pointing to Europe.

As for Farnell/Element 14, they have private customers in Germany on their black list and don't sell to them.

I delete PMs unread. If you have something to say, say it in public.

Conrad participates in the promotion. I'm propably gonna get one. I was thinking of getting a 1272A anyway and you can never have enough powersupplies.

I was probably too fast getting annoyed over the "no shop selling to private persons" situation.

I sent an email to the other online store of Meilhaus, which has a lot less sophisticated web page (barely any products listed on there) but which serves private costumers. Anyway their reply was that they fully support this Agilent promotion.

So for the cheaper supplies it would cost me:

337€ for one of the smaller units (E3610A, E3611A or E3612A)
+19% VAT (in Germany)
+5,80 € for shipping.

406,83 € according to my calculations.

Conrad seems to sell the supply at the same price.

Cheers,
Florian

True. But conrad has free shipping. And they are usually pretty damn quick with their shipping. Personally i'd go eith conrad rather than meilhaus, but that's only because i ordered from them before, where i never ordered from meilhaus.

Cheers,
Harm

I also dropped Farnell Germany an email, they say on their page that they deliver to students and offer a 12% discount for students. Let's see if they agree to combine the promotion with that discount. Probably not ...

Cheers,
Florian

Well an Update from Farnell in Germany.

OT:
Even though I won't be able to buy this anytime soon, because I lost my cellphone and the (sorry for the swearing) dick-face shit-head who found my phone managed to make calls for ~400€ before I realized the loss and before I could lock the SIM.

So I specifically asked for the E3611A with promotion code 5889 and if I can combine it with the 12% discount for students, and they made me an offer for:

+ E3611A
+ U1272A
+ free U1177A BT Adapter (Apparently this promotion: http://tinyurl.com/95jsm9p)
-12% discount

WTH? That's a totally different promotion.

This offer leaves room for interpretation:
a) No we don't offer that promotion, but here is another good deal ... (etc.)
b) They didn't understand me and thought I wanted promotion 5.865 instead of 5.889.
c) GO AWAY, we don't want your business here.

Ah well ... guess it's time for another email.

Thanks, that's good to know. I've read their "AGB" and they state that they don't serve private costumers. I've read on the German mikrocontroller.net forums that Datatec makes exceptions to that practice, but the Info was a few years old.  I'll keep it in mind.

On a side note: I dropped Farnell another email, asking for clarification.
