Hello,

I'm Kevin, from Surrey in the UK. I mess about with electronics as a hobby, usually repairing old synthesisers or building various audio effects. I did a bit of electronics at school and then forgot everything over the following 15 years, before getting back into it after acquiring various faulty synths and having a go at repairing them.

Other hobbies/interests: Photography, electronic music (obviously), architecture, Linux and railways. The latter took over my life as I work as a train driver....

Hey I'm Scott. I'm just this average guy who works as a junior catalog editor for a department store. I'm known as the geek around the office and fix peoples computers a lot and stuff. Lately I've taken an interest in electronics design after my friend Hector introduced me to the EEVBlog videos, which I think are really cool. I hope to become better at building electronics.

Hello

My name is Utz. I am 42 years old and work as unix system administrator.  Since i was a small kid i have been interested in electronics (and computers). I done a lot of repairs, tear downs and just playing around with electronics. In the 80ies i designed, build and programmed small Z80 and 68k computers. In the 90ies i did analog music synthesiser stuff. Then i lost the interest in it. The EEVblog brought it back. Thanks Dave!

Hi,

I came across the EEVblog youtube channel and have been finding it quite entertaining particularly the tear downs.  I also like the irreverent style. I have been interesting in Electronics for most of my life and mainly done digital work. I made a couple of computers using the 6809, one was a thing I called a graphics terminal (also using the 6845) and the other was a sonar range finder (I still have this).  A funny story about the graphics terminal was that a few years ago when I dismantled it (my own digital stuff was point to point soldered on veroboard) I found that the stack of ram chips (saves board space, was a few inches high) had never been properly soldered and so I found out probably a couple of decades later why I used to get intermittant memory problems...

Recently I have been able to get back into my hobby (partly to see if my youngest child would be interested) and partly because I have a bit more time / money and space.  I have so far updated my old bench top power supply to have 3 outputs and ebay digital displays.  I have also built an amplifier using boards from the Elliot Sound website http://sound.westhost.com/ and an old receiver I got from the local tip shop, this is not quite finished.

I think that future projects might be test equipment - I have the idea to revamp my power supply with some microprocessor control.

I am a computer science graduate and currently work in automated software testing here in Canberra, ACT. My blog is at http://petercupit.com/blog

Hi everyone,
I am from the Netherlands, 46 yrs, live together with GF and kid (9 yrs), studied EE in the far past and am working as an embedded software programmer and try to keep up with all the new technologies. Main hobby topics are digital electronics and microcontroller related. Since I myself always like to see the shack of fellow hobbyists, I will share mine with some stuff I collected over the last 25 yrs.

Thanks, my experience is that no matter how big the table, it always gets (too) full with stuff/projects.

Hi everyone,
My name is Matt.
I'm not an engineer or anything, just a low level hobbyist from Canberra Australia.
I've been following Dave's videos for quite a while now, and been lurking on the forums for a little while. I figured I'd join and see if I can participate in any way.

I've been dabbling in electronics since I was a kid, but never really learnt it super in-depth.
I enjoy salvaging bits and pieces from old electronics, which i guess came from when I was a kid. Now I'm all grown up though, I can afford to buy new stuff when i need. lol

Cheers,
Matt

Hi everyone,

I'm watching Dave videos and reading forum from quite long time (more than a year) but util now I was "passive" :)
I have a feeling that I will need some valuable information and share them myself so it's time to introduce myself.

Electronic as my hobby started when I was ~15 years old and it is following me since then.
I'm technical character - finished car engineering school, studied Physics, working as a CATV/DOCSIS specialist and electronics and HAM radio is my hobby :)

Location - Poland.

Regards,

Hello, I'm SAI, a student at the University of Hartford studying Computer Engineering. My focus is on security.

Electronics is both a hobby and a component of my studies. Other hobbies are tying knots (largely "fancy" work eg marlinspike seamanship), making whips, playing music (tin whistle, low whistle, bodhran, great highland bagpipes), watching/keeping birds, and Liechtenauer fencing. Some of these are more applicable to electronics than others, eg I've made an electronic bagpipe chanter/whistle/other instrument with up to 8 holes, but haven't tried decorative knotwork in transformer windings...

I've been watching the eevblog for quite a while now, and figured I should actually make an account on the forums.
