Flir Boson UART for an idiot
« on: December 08, 2018, 11:40:58 pm »
Hi all,

I am trying to send some commands to a Flir Boson sensor via UART. Everything is connected up and I'm sending commands with an Xmega mcu. The port is set up as per the Boson's datasheet - 921.6K baud, 8 bits, no parity and 1 stop bit.

I'm new to digital. I am at the stage of being able to send bytes and the scope decodes them fine.

This is Flir's IDD document for the Boson:

https://www.flir.com/globalassets/imported-assets/document/boson_sdk_documentation_9hz-v11412-and-later.pdf

Can anyone help me make sense of this? What actual data would I send? Can't figure it out. I have also downloaded the SDK which hasn't helped me so far.

Thanks in advance.

That document appears to be for a library API rather than serial comms.

Thanks. It would appear that I have the wrong end of the stick then, or rather the stick is not even in my hand.

Where should I go from here?

Someone has uploaded the protocol here. That should get me started.
