Wanted: Fluke 189
« on: February 10, 2019, 01:28:11 am »
Looking for a nice, used Fluke 189. I'd prefer one that was calibrated in the last 1-2 years. I have the optical cable, but would need the adapter that fits on the top of the meter. A bad supercap is OK, as long as the circuit board isn't corroded.

Please PM me with a description and asking price, instead of posting here. If I'm interested, I'll ask for pictures.

Just saw one sell today on ebay for $126... I don't think you can beat the price.... untested by the way but... still, great price.

The battery terminals on the 189 love to lure leaking battery gunk along the full path.. straight to the main board, (Energizer bunnied again IIRC  >:( )

and eat at the metal rail style terminals along the way, they corrode very easily along the entire path

Been there when I bought mine used and unaware  ::)
not pretty, but saved it, just in time...   :phew:

i.e. if you see some corrosion or darkened spots on the terminals in any seller photos, even slight, you need to see the board too

A replacement battery terminals kit isn't cheap either, if you can find it

A fully working 189 is still a great all rounder meter in 2019   :-+  that's why they rarely come up for sale and or cheap
