Looking for a decent microscope under $200
« on: July 20, 2018, 10:30:08 pm »
Mainly as a hobby purchase, would like to let the kids use it, my daughter is fascinated with the micro world. Would also be cool to see the skin of copper wire from an audio quality standpoint.. so about 200-400x would be good.

Was looking at this. I honestly have no idea where to start.

The problem I see is that it doesn't appear to have a normal eyepiece and the screen resolution is not that great. Personally I'd look for something more like a normal microscope. AmScope is one source for decent quality microscopes though you may have to pay a bit more. Also, don't get too fixated on magnification power. Just as with telescopes, more is not always better.
