I find lots of info on how to do this in Eschema, but not how to do it in Pcbnew with footprints. Say I just want to scoot a footprint over? do I really need to manually reconnect everything?

In the Default canvas, there is a "Drag" option which rubber bands the tracks when you move a footprint, but beware it doesn't do a very good job. It's ok for small moves, but even then I usually end up redrawing the tracks.
