Has anyone used an Arduino shield with a MCU development board ?

Has anyone used an Arduino shield with a MCU development board like the STM32 Nucleo.  If so did it work?  I wonder if this something that exists in theory only.

Nucleo-64 include Arduino Uno rev3 & ST morpho connectors

I am making a list of dev boards that can use Arduino shields and this question popped into my mind.

I don't see what the point would be of including the Arduino headers if it wasn't compatible with Arduino shields…

Even if physically Arduino shield compatible, watch out for 3.3 vdc Vs 5.0 vdc shields as damage can be caused if mismatched. The latest shield pin out (rev 3) has a 'new' pin which outputs 3.3 or 5.0 to 'tell' connected shields if the underlying controller board is working at 3.3 Vs 5.0, so the shield could theoretically switch voltage level converters to allow proper operation, however I've never seen such a shield product available?

it gives a list of shields it is known to work / not work with, with observations.
Of course, this is not a complete list of all known arduino shields, but should give some insights.

Finally, there is a list of suggested boards here:

and each one lists which mbed boards it has been tested with.

Thanks I never got to the end of the page where the shield info is at.
Are you using a Nucleo-F411RE with the Application-Shield ?  I like this shield but I am afraid of the Nucleo, but maybe I need to try again.

I never saw the page on shields, I was stuck on the dev board page and could not make up my mind.  Your message came just in time.  I was going to order a book today on the TI.

i have done it, but you MUST read the Nucleo manual for your board.
there are links soldered under the board and a few may need to be moved to fully replicate the arduino interface.
there is a manual for the Nucleo-32 series, a manual for the Nucleo-64 series, and one for the 144pin series.

I've used several different mbed boards, but mainly for teaching, etc, rather than significant development. The Nucleo-F411RE is certainly one of them; there are other DISCO boards with LCDs too.
