Hardware Team Lead Adelaide Australia
« on: January 29, 2019, 08:41:59 am »
Hi All

Been trying to recruit a hardware team lead for a vacancy for the last 6 months.

Keep getting verbal acceptances, but then the candidates pull out last minute (matched offers from old company, wife didn’t want to relocate).

It’s a role for a Defence contractor, 10 year acquisition programme and 25 year sustainment so lots of job security.

Work in the HF spectrum, cost and bespoke product, and facilities management.

Must be Australian Citizen, eligible for a Defence clearance.

Competitive wage, relocation available.

Hit me up if interested / want to know more details.

That's the problem with more senior roles. Older people are usually married and/or have kids, so relocation becomes an issue.

Indeed it’s an issue, but this lead role seems to be the most problematic.

I’ve been able to relocate people from Qld (single guy) and Canberra (a family) for less senior roles - but this HW Team Lead is becoming a bit of a unicorn.

I’ve lowered the ‘entry bar’ a fair bit, and we have both technical and manager mentors who can help any new starter (happy to invest and grow a person).

Also, the company as a whole is growing so there opportunities for future advancement (in 3 - 5 years as juniors in the team become potential successors).

Don’t be shy people - PM me and I’ll flick a Job description your way!

... eligible for a Defence clearance.

That's a bit of a warning sign for many folk (me included, not that I'd hire me for a HW job). Clearances aren't horrible, but many folk just don't want to bother with them.
