I'd highly recommend Chris Gammell's series of videos on getting up to speed with KiCad:

After learning the basics, experimenting and playing around is by far the best way to get familiar with the tool - nothing beats hands-on experience!

Cool I'll have to check that out too.

At $15, I ended up buying the paid course anyway.  Some good night shift material to go over when it's quiet at work.  ;D

How was that course in the end? Does it cover same ground as Chris Gammell's Getting To Blinky 4.0 series of vids? (I see he has a new shorter Kicad course up now btw).

I did not get a chance to actually check it yet, been busy with other stuff, but I will check it soon for sure, not sure how long it stays on the site for so I should probably hurry up. :P

It was down to $10 yesterday so picked it up too, I'm assuming that it's a perpetual course.  I'm planning to do it and Chris Gammel's series to get up to speed, will report.

Cheers,
Ruairi

They've got 40,000 courses on sale!  I got the Kicad course and a $200 Python course for $15 each.

Ruairi, US$10 is about equal to CA$15 so it wasn't another price drop.

Yep that was good, worth it for me (learner)! It works well with Chris Gammell's video series, so both are well worth the investment of your time & effort I say. There's a book also, that pretty much iterates the entire video course in print.

Hi guys,

I did Gammel's "Getting to Blinky 4.0" last night and followed along, my boards will be back from OSH soonish.  I enjoyed it, I was left with plenty of questions but the course does a great job of getting you moving.

I'm going to try to do the Udemy course at the weekend, I'll report back.

BTW first impressions of KICAD are really good, I have no other PCB experience.

Cheers,
Ruairi
