Shenzhen is indeed an amazing place for makers, fast and cheap PCB services, fantastic variety of components stocked in the markets. All you need is to be able to find what you need! Unfortunately that can be quite a feat, I've personally spent many hours walking around in different buildings just trying to roughly index what's available where for future reference. Bunnie (author of the book) is just an all-around awesome dude
