Electronic Assembly guide/manual?
« on: February 04, 2018, 10:16:39 am »
Hello, does anyone know of a downloadable(editable) assembly manual for electrical assembly?
Guides on earthing methods, use of DIN rail terminals, wiring methods etc. ???

I'd like to put something together for at work where they have nothing, no records of schematics etc.
So I'm taking on the mantle of bringing them into the 20th century with schematics and hopefully a guide to how to build stuff properly :)

Is it about packaging, interconnection, electromechanics, so NOT PCB-level assembly?

Yes, no PCB's involved.

Catering appliances mainly.

A good explanation of how Earthing should be done will do for a start (although I'm kind of writing this myself).

If you can find a copy, the BBC published ED122 "specification for the wiring of equipment". It's a bit 'old-school' and is aimed at AV equipment and systems but the basics, especially in regards to mains, are solid.

Also country applicability would be helpful.

BTW, anyone have any good into on choice of lock washer for earthing connections?
Im thinking a shakeproof one is the way to go, I have seen that in standards many times, but a colleague (who ought to know better) insists on using split ring washers (whjen he actually bothers to use them) and want to find some definitive proof that he's wrong :)
