Small run chinesse PCB assembling
« on: June 08, 2014, 04:50:39 am »
What has been your experience with small run (20-100 boards) Chinese PCB assembly?

I have a few designs that each have 20-150 components. I would still hand assemble some of the more sensitive components (I have pots and switches that are very particular and only take about 2-3 minutes per product to install so doing that in house is no big deal).

Basically, Im looking for a general overview of whats available and what your experience is. Right now it would be through hole designs. I would prefer to supply the components as I dont know how much I trust these assembly plants to not use fake parts or inferior quality units etc.

Anyways
-What services have you used? I am particularly interested in elecrow
-Where there any hidden fees?
-What was the turnaround tie?
-Were the components installed straight?

I live in the USA and would be willing to consider services based inside the United States, but Im not sure if there would really be any cost savings vs doing them in house.

You'd better use a one stop pcb assembly provider, like www.nexpcb.com;
But there is only standard package on website, you'd better raise a quotation.

I am aware of this service http://factoryforall.com/

I worked with the guy in the US years ago. He was responsible for making the designs manufacturable and for interfacing with the far east manufactures. Apparently he liked it there so he moved to China and is operating from their since.  He is a native speaker of English so no Chinglish their.
