Infrared rework stations
« on: March 03, 2019, 02:47:17 am »
Has anyone here used one of those? Are they worthwile? Any model to suggest (only for prototyping needs, nothing too fancy)? I've seen a few chinese ones around $400-$500 which are pretty basic. Don't know if they are even worth that?

Additionally, I'm also wondering whether there exists some kind of IR "soldering irons" a bit like the hot air ones (haven't really found any), but infrared-based? I think that could prove very useful as an alternative to hot air, as the absence of air flow would help tremendously with handling very small parts. Don't know if that would be usable as an handheld tool. Any opinion?
