"Inexpensive" triax to alligator clip cable on eBay
« on: February 27, 2018, 11:56:21 pm »
Just a "heads up" there is a seller on eBay currently selling Pomona 5342 triaxial to alligator clip leads for $43.44. These usually go for over $100! I've been waiting for over a year to get a reasonably priced input cable for my Keithley 616 electrometer. I've stubbornly refused to spend more on a cable than I paid for the electrometer.

I have no interest/relation to the seller. Just want to make people aware.

Watch out!
The 5342 is not what you will need for the Keithley 616 as it has three lugs on the bayonet.
You would need the Pomona 4725 which only has two lugs...

Thanks, but that lug was filed off long ago. Now I have a "universal" fit 1-lug connector!

LOL, universal BNC. I'm still holding out for an "inexpensive" 4725 for my 614 and 220.

I tried to find a 2-slot triax to 2-lug coax adapter that would work, but the ones I found had shorted or a "low" impedance between shield and guard that are inappropriate.

Mine just arrived.... this had to be a pricing mistake. It was drop shipped as An "amazon gift"... and links back to one on Amazon over 150 bucks.

Good find.

Yeah, mine shipped the same way. Not complaining though! Now I just need to swap out the giant alligator clips for some Pomona minigrabbers...

That is a good deal!

I bough a few double ended TRIAX cables and made my own alligator clips attachment.

Yes, I have used the yellow cables to make high resistance measurements and they work very well.
By now I have a good collection of many different TRIAX cables.
The yellow one was by far the cheapest but the quality is really good.

I have been using them in my DIY high resistance measuring box.
