WOW, well this article just helped me locate my Fail 1 error on my just arrived 4808 quickly. Was looking through schematics while googling 4808 and here we are! Thanks Doktor Pyta.

Will still go through and check/change caps.

@Johnny10

The noise level with the new fan is slightly lower but there is more important factor- due to worn out bearing old fan generated weird disturbing sounds, changed pitch etc.
At the moment the sound is definitely less annoying.

@doktor pyta

Yup Im the mad bastard that purchased it on ebay...

And its looking like more than simply a few caps. I replaced the 4 tants and the problem persisted, themisters appear to be ok, but I have noticed someone before me has been at the amp assembly and the heatsink assemblies, so I guess Im going to have to go over it in a bit more detail.

Managed to source one of those Datron cable set (total 3) from evilbay. The cover is made of plastic not metal. The set come with both side connector as of socket type  :wtf: Checking the serial number of the  able confirmed that they are from the same set with part number 40016-A, B, C

Anybody has idea what is the intended use of those cables ?

The box/cable plugs in the front of the calibrator, the banana's then to the DMM under test.
I suspect that the Lemo cable may be one of the interconnects for the 4600 transconductance amp. A better picture of the ends would help confirm.

That is cable set for Datron/Wavetek 4950. You can sell it to rare owners of such.
