Datron 4808 Service Manual
« on: January 05, 2017, 08:36:19 pm »
Would anyone happen to have access to a Datron 4808 service manual?  They seem to be nonexistent online.

I am also looking for one. Maybe someone can be enticed to copy one for some extra $?

I would be happy with a scanned version, no need for hardcopy.

There is DATRON 4708 service manual available for download online, and they are pretty much the same.
Mickle T./iddqd2001 shared it before.
I uploaded it to ftp : ftp://ftp.xdevs.com/Datron%204708%20SM/

Thanks. I already have it but I wasn't sure how different the two models are. Did Wavetek just change colors, faceplates, and displays?

This thread has a side by side top veiw of each models guts and the visual similarity is quite striking.

The 4708 manual would most likely be the best current no cost option to get started for repairs on a 4808 etc,
without having access to each version for dissection.

Well, even if one has both 4708 and 4808, it's best to have intended manuals, as there are surely subtle but important details difference, I'm sure.

Of course its best to have one for each bit of kit, but depite there being quite a few 4800 series out there no service manaul has yet surfaced. Even at work with three of these series (the 08 one is defunct as posted some time back) only the user manuals were ever supplied. I guess no one ever considered they would need repairing and thought to get copies of the service manuals at the time :( .
Good luck getting one now. Until then using the 4708 manual and making educated interpretations is better than no manual at all.

Didnt know there was a service manual (for the Datron 4708) available for a calibrator comparable to the Fluke 5700A, thanks!  :-+ So much knowledge in there.

I've found someone with a copy of the schematics for the 4808.  It is a physical form, so they would have to taken to a copy shop to be copied there.  Would anyone be interested in chipping in and donate to help fund the cost of getting these schematics copied?  I know I'm not the only one who is looking for more information on the 4808!

If you would be willing to donate some cash money towards the cost of getting a copy of the 4808 schematics, please send me a PM or make a post here and lets see how much total we can accumulate!

That is a good question!  The gentleman with the schematics guestimated €200-300.  I'm not sure how accurate that is though..  depending on how many pages and where he takes it.

I can go higher. I have a few of these large Datron manuals and there is a lot of detail. Having it all scanned in at once would be a lot of work.

I am willing to pitch in ~$75-100.  Maybe if we get enough, we can entice him to do this sooner rather than later.

I was able to obtain some scans of the 4808 schematics.  I will keep them private and not just attach them here, incase Fluke tries to take any legal action.  If you would like a copy, send me a PM and I will provide you with a copy!

I have scans of all the 4808 manuals bar one page - see my recent post about page 11-4.5

Once I've got that page (11x17, 600dpi, B&W (not greyscale) I will release them.

PM if you can help with that page.

I believe we do if you have one handy.
There is a reference handbook available online. The scans are decent but if you have a newer or sharper version, that would be most welcome.
