Fluke 5500A Multifunction Calibrator: Short Teardown
« on: February 21, 2018, 06:04:53 pm »
Today i had the chance to take a few photos of a defective Fluke 5500A which we have at work. I couldnt find the error and will reassemble it tomorrow, so it can be repaired by Fluke. So if there are any needs for more photos of a particular board say it now. Enjoy.  :)

Outer case photos and manuals can be found here: https://doc.xdevs.com/doc/Fluke/5500A/ Also pictures of the Keyboard Assembly, which i didnt take photos of.

Time limited repair attempt failed, but heres the repair-thread: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/fluke-5500a-startup-error/

The reference on A6_2 shows the LTFLU-1ACH flying in the breeze, they didnt even bother to squeeze it in a heated enclosure. Of course its sufficient to this mediocre class of calibrators but it kinda hurts to see.

All in all it was interesting to disassemble it, but of course it doesnt come close to a Fluke 57XX Calibrator with all its shielding and TaN-Resistornetworks.  ;D

Thank you for photos.

LTFLU in these is very same REF as used in Fluke 8842A, even resistor is same ;).
