Russian Eye-Candy
« on: September 05, 2018, 06:15:45 pm »
Mickle knows how to build beautiful metrological devices, thats for sure.  :-+ --> https://radiokot.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3449897&sid=fb2cc3b2befa1d19da7fa2f114bc506e#p3449897

Cant imagine how much voltnut-stuff we miss on such websites or bbs.38hot for example, because the translation engines arent yet good enough to enable casual/strain-free reading or searching.  :(

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went there via translate.google.com and in poking around found these shots of a really nice SMD soldering setup at https://radiokot.ru/lab/hardwork/132/

Apparently Chrome will do this for you automatically.  But I discovered that if you navigate to a site via translate.google.com and save a bookmark you can go back there and it will appear in your chosen language.

It makes me wonder if it would translate comments to the original language.

It's EEVblog in Russian!

https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fradiokot.ru%2Fforum%2F

Unfortunately, you can only read, it won't translate from your language back to the native site language.

I was wondering how somebody from Zimbabwe could clock up 325 posts in 24 days from a standing start. :o

That explains it... not the absence of a life though.  :palm:

i think ppl in the EU have no problem ordering? but out of EU? :-//. i think only a few in EEVBLOG manage to order something successfully.
i say EU, because i already tried emails, they dont reply. maybe only mickle can talk to them as a regular customer? :-//

Russia manufacturers are state military plants. KGB is watching for every guy who contact foreigners.
So  no reason to risk and sell few resistors for private persons.

Few words about radiokot.ru
I can read russian a little. Radiokot is literally "Ham radio male cat"
This is basicaly newbies forum.

There is a lot of companies selling top products - ie http://www.morion.com.ru/eng/oscillators/ etc.
They will be pretty happy to get customers from abroad, sure..

BTW, "ИОН" there means Reference Voltage Source.

I had tried corresponding with Ukrainian not Russian  resistor manufacturers.
No response.

If there is interest in Ukrainian resistor source I have a contact in Ukraine who would be in a far better position than any of us to initiate the contact.

In fact i might start a topic on Ukrainian resistors .

May I add Ukraine is not like Russia, after all was it not American representative who went to Kiev handing out sandwiches to the freedom loving far right protesters ( Bandera followers ) in the Maidan?

Yeah, "newbies" building 0.1 ppm decade dividers!  It's really the Russian language equivalent of EEVblog. Everything from idiots to geniuses.  You ignore the former and listen to the latter.

And just like EEVblog, they have a "post a picture of a cat" section ;-)

IME, when a company has an english version of their page (or many in this particular example), they are surely open for business abroad.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

" ...Radiokot is literally "Ham radio male cat"..."

Anybody who speaks a language from two different linguistic groups will tell you examples of interpretation shown above are an interesting example of literal translation. They will also tell You  that phrases can not be translated they can only be interpreted.

Oh and by the way which part of radiokot translates as ham?

It is literally just radio cat.

...which explains the forum theme, in case people were wondering why an electronics forum would feature pictures of mice too.

From About us (automatic translation):
Quote
We are a small team of like-minded people led by the Cat of the Wise and the Gluttonous. Most of the time this beast sleeps and eats, and the remaining, very small, I must say, part, tries to lead us. True, he quickly gets tired of it, and he falls asleep. Therefore, as you know, basically we are left to ourselves.

I've always admired effort and designs by great Mickle T. and some other radiokot members. I think it would be good idea to have here <metrology at eevblog> at least photo+short description in english+ link to radiokot so that anyone could use google translate to read more. It's just good to know that something exist.

BTW, "ИОН" there means Reference Voltage Source.

Thanks, I did notice that from the context of the translation, but always wondered what it really meant as it was translated as ION.
ION?  :-//
ИОН = Источник опорного напряжения = Reference Voltage Source

ИОН = Источник опорного напряжения = Reference Voltage Source

Источник = istotshnik = (the) source
опорного = apornovo = (of the) reference
напряжения = napryazhenya = voltage
