I prefer hipsters to football fans, but that's not saying much. They do have a horrible effect on beer prices.

No, Hoxton and Shoreditch are the newly trendy bits - full of Nathan Barley types (i.e. Hipster media sorts). Hackney is a fair ways east of those parts, only another couple of miles until Hackney starts, but east enough to still be genuinely rough around the edges.

Yes, though Hackspace is near Mare St / Cambridge Heath, which is where the tech companies have moved now the media types have discovered Shoreditch.

But the place you suggested in Holborn sounds fine too, if you know it well enough to be sure it will be fairly quiet. S K Pang will also know the Queen's Head near Gray's Inn Road, though it can be busy in the evening.

What's Brick Lane like these days? A nice Ruby after a few pints would be in order. But I expect the hipsters have made it all vegan and the banksters mega-bucks prices or something just as abominable!  :palm:

There is, so far, a certain british focus in this thread  :) . With lots of guys from Germany here, is anybody interested in a gathering? And just to be complete, we also have good beer here...
Am located in the south of Germany, but no problem to meet elsewhere.

I'm located in the north. Near Bremen (I know, the Hamburg people would say it is in the south, because it is beyond the "Elbe" ;) ).

Wondering the same, Any Dutch people here interested in a meeting? Either at a Voltnuts home or in a bar? Utrecht would be a nice central location altough I am located in Eindhoven.

I am a bit of a beginner in the voltnuttery but still, drooling over other peoples setup is a evening well spent ;-).

I'm always interested in a volt-nuts meeting, especially meeting acbern personally, in the beautiful town of Augsburg

And I'd also like going North, maybe meeting HighVoltage from HH.

For Easter feast, I'm travelling to Oldenburger Muensterland, near CLP, btw.

Hi,

as I'm a newbie to all this voltage metrology stuff, I'm very interested in a meeting.
I live in the most south-western part of Germany (near .ch and .fr).

Probably the HAM Radio in Friedrichshafen end of June is a good opportunity to meet.
I'll be there on Friday, sneaking around in the flea market. :-)

I will also be at HAM radio. So we can arrange something there.
But the guys more up in the north, since I suspect they are not into RF, will probably not make it to the HAM radio show.
I would be glad if you and Dr Frank would like to come to visit me, probably same way for both (pretty rough guess), but am also ok to come up to the north.

Should I be wearing a micrometer in my breast pocket? Perhaps I'll settle for an LM399 in my buttonhole.
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

My location is Hannover, Germany.

As long as PTB rejoins the Maker Faire in 2017 I would recommend meeting at the PTB booth.
Otherwise there is an "open door event" at their main location in Braunschweig in August - maybe a chance to meet?

Would consider travelling as well.

OK it's taken a while (apologies) but I've established a London-based meetup here:

http://www.meetup.com/London-Nuts-Volt-Time-Metrology/members/

Add yourself to the list if you're interested. I can get space at Makerversity at Somerset House but other ideas for venues welcome.

I'm thinking maybe the 1st session could be an informal meet, introductions, maybe one presentation and general chat about what we want the group to do etc? Again open to persuasion.

What's the best day of the week?

Alan

p.s. add you area of interest, list of gear etc as you feel inclined

Joined.

Might be interesting. Although I'm not really a true volt nut, too poor for that, reaching only LM399 levels (34401,K2015,3457A and 4 LM399s in a drawer) :)

Well, as Dr.Frank said, I am in Hamburg in the north of Germany and really would like to be interested in meeting others in Germany.
May be we can have one meting in the south and some time later one in the north?

Hi,

I am on Friday 24th of June at the HAM Radio in Friedrichshafen. Probably there are some other guys of you around and we can meet somewhere in the flea market. I think, acbern mentioned that he will be at the HAM Radio in FN as well.

Cheers,

Andreas

I haven't been to the ham radio since 2009, but as my youngest has reached the good for camping age in the meantime, I plan to go next year. Will also be at Weinheim and I can also suggest meetings at Aschaffenburg, at the Schaffenburg Hackerspace. As it is very close to Frankfurt its easy to get there from anywhere.

I'll be August 16 - 19 in Chicago, IL in case anybody around there would like to meet and chat about volt-nuttery.
Will have my DMM and few standards with me, so we can volt-nut a bit in starbucks or something like that  :-DD.

$136 is even less then a set of resistors for reference :).
