Hello everybody, I may offer shelter to an abused Wavetek Datron 9000 calibrator, it was described as working with a couple (2) of errors at the end of the auto-test procedure, seller claims  it's unopened and no attempt to repair it has been done.
As I didn't find a lot online about this calibrator, could you metrology masters kindly tell me what will be a fair price of such a device and if you're aware of some specific gotchas that I should look for (missing vital options, errors indicating unobtanium parts, and so on).
A pointer to service/user manuals will be very appreciated as well, but first the price  ^-^

 Thanks,
 DC1MC

not sure if this helps, but the newer Wavetek 9100 should be very similar and you can find documentation for it

It does help, but little, because practically this what I've found as well, no 9000 specific manuals, and most scary, no trace of service manuals, schematics or anything related.  :'(

So all help is welcome, at least an 9000 specific user manual or brochure, I actually  don't know, is this suitable for 6,5 digits, less or more, everything is mysterious abut it. I mean one could get full manual of devices before and after it, but not on this specific guy.
I promise if I'll get it, I'll do a proper tear-down with pictures, but repairing it seem that will be  a problem.

 Cheers,
 DC1MC

The 9000, contrary to the 9100, is not in support anymore by Fluke, and a service manual cannot be purchased from them either. The 9000 and 9100 are also pretty different.
Buying this is a gamble, imo.

OK then, so the consensus is that it's not worth the 1K EUR that the seller asks for it, especially for a beginner  :-[, so if somebody from Germany wants to take the risk and get it, please PM me urgently, as the seller asks if he should continue to reserve it or not.

 Thanks for the advice,

The seller decided to (re)post the calibrator publicly, so here's the link:

https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/wavetek-datron-9000/918825966-226-1886

I have chickened-out because I totally have no experience with these devices and even if it's a simple contact/capacitor issue or such simple defect it's difficult for me to find it.
The persons that contact me privately got the link and extra details one hour earlyer.
Also the 4 hours trip from my place to near Bonn in this heat/stormy weather played a role.
I only ask for the lucky buyer to press the Thank You button (in the end if it's really lucky this will go for over 5K after repair !!) and eventually let me use it once to calibrate some ancient DDM.

 Best of luck,
 DC1MC
