Yokogawa 2553 Voltage DC Calibrator
« on: April 28, 2018, 09:05:54 am »
I have just acquired and repaired a very nice Yokogawa 2553 Voltage DC Calibrator, it seems to be working fine now but is a few millivolts out here and there

I cant seem to find a manual for the 2553 (not the 2553A) I would really like to run it through a calibration procedure (it also has GPIB)

Does anyone here have any idea on how this unit is calibrated? there is a hidden (3 position) switch inside which is marked 'Normal' 'Calib' and 'Entry'

Any manuals, info or pointers would be greatly appreciated with this unit

Many thanks

Billy

No, that is the A version (2553A), this is vastly different and includes an accessible menu using the front panel controls which also allows some kind of calibration.

This menu is not implemented on the previous model 2553

2553A is much younger than 2553.
it is LM399AH based, and user can adjust it without opening the chassis.

Perhaps the Yokogawa CD manual collection will help?

no connection to the seller:

search eBay for:

"Ultimate Yokogawa Operation, Repair & Service Manuals (135 PDF manual on DVD)"

Good luck, I will follow your progress.

I would double check that the CD contains the manual you need. Usually these manual collections consist of just copies of already freely available manuals.

Thanks, I have sent him an eBay message to ask if it is included on the DVD (as he only lists the 2553A manual)

It seems this manual is hiding quite well, I know if I can understand the calibration sequence I can knock this very nice unit into being perfect

Is your unit a 2553-01 or a 2553-41?

Its a 2553-42 - the 42 referring to the GPIB card option

That's a newer one of the older version, made after 1982. Quite desirable I would say.

I do't find the manual, so recommend getting with Yokogawa USA next business day.

I do have the 2553A manual ad the 2553-42 two page specification sheets if you need.

Reply from the eBay yokogawa manuel seller:

"Sorry, I don't have anything on the DVD version.

I have tried many times to find something about it without any chance.

If you find a manual, a service manual or schematics, let me know.
"

Seems this unit really is trying to be as mysterious as it can.... |O :-//

Locally here I have a lots of these Japanese high end used T&M equipments for sale, brands like Meguro, Shibashoku, Iwatsu, Hioki, Takeda Riken, Kikusui, Anritsu, Advantest and etc. Some are quite decently priced too.

Its just for the same reason, no documentation what so ever that made me skip quite numerous offerings.  :(

Could you upload it somewhere public, like TiN's xdevs.com or KO4BB? So it is more likely to stay available and easier to find? Finding those old forum threads can be annoying, and sometimes the person that offered the manual is no longer active after a couple of years.

I tried to look through xdevs, but could only find the 2 page specification uploaded there. So I hunted around and found a photo copied version, of the service manual, of the first edition of the device (note the temperature probe settings on the front are different), but the schematic etc should probably be close enough if not same. I just bought a 2553 myself (which is a bit out of calibration, and no gpib) which I will be trying to restore to working order. So if anyone need/wants pictures of the insides you can ask.

Here are the links where you can download it: (about ~4MB/page jpgs)

http://pan.baidu.com/s/1ouaR6 (source, Baidu)
https://1drv.ms/f/s!Alf4poCaEwg7giZMNrUIr3Vxjp3p (reupload, onedrive)

The attached samples are low res to fit upload limits.

(Praise Tucker who actually saved this digital version, or the person who did this to Tucker's manual. Or maybe Tucker just wrote his own name on the manual of someone else? Don't know which it is!)

Thanks all, I was looking for the 2553 service manual for a long time and never found it.

I have a 2560 set like this:

Today I'll calibrate it!

Thanks all,

I have moved above mentioned files to this permanent link.

I merged the scanned pictures of the 2553 Service Manual and generated one PDF file with lower resolution: https://1drv.ms/b/s!AqnNREOUkatphPZsuVr6l3u-yXn66w
Maybe it could be uploaded to the above link.

I have a copy of this manual now, if anyone else needs it please feel free to message me

May you have the 2560 set manuals, that set include the 2553 (Voltage Current Standard), 2563 (Voltage Unit) and 2564 (Current Unit) as shown in the above post picture.

Or if you have a hint about where can I find it, I appreciate.

Regards,
Rodrigo.
