Youtube find: software correction of machine tools

Hello fellow *nuts,

I have been watching this video series on youtube about software correction of machine tools. It's quite interesting, and so I thought I would share it here:

I haven't watched the whole thing (yet, its about 3h total), but I'll certainly be finished by the end of today

No time to watch that, but I run manual machines. A friend has a CNC shop. I was measuring one of his parts, a long turned shaft, and was surprised to see it was within 0.0002". I asked him if the machines were really that good. He said no, you just program out any taper in software. I couldn't do that part on a manual machine without very time consuming heroics.
