I have found no reference in the datasheets about which pins are the inputs for timer events. Any clues? I see EVOUT pins but I need event IN pins or are these it?

There's no dedicated timer input pin, instead there's a more general event system. In your case you'd need to configure your wanted pin as an event generator for one of the event channels, and then connect one of the timer's event inputs to that channel. Or at least that's what I surmised by looking at the hardware manual for a few minutes.
