Any Ideas about price of PSoC 6
« on: October 24, 2017, 02:25:02 pm »
Hi,
I have seen them on cypress, they look promising, a dual core Cortex M, like LPC43XX or LPC54XX from NXP with the added BLE or Wifi connectivity, more ram and flash and CPU clock than Nordic parts, the question for now is how they are priced? and what tools and library do they support for the RF parts, and the Possibility to work directly in Keil is a must for success. Do they support Mesh networks? it's a big question for them.

You can use the Product Selection guide at cypress.com to find that only 1 variant has a price and it is $6.55 qty 1000.

The other devices aren't priced yet and the one that is happens to come in a BGA package which makes it useless for my hobby applications.  Other packages will be available - sooner or later.

6.55$ is insane and make them useless, since the next best thing is NRF52832 and it has a more capable radio, and it's about 2.5 USD in Quantities  under 5K, they should mark them something near 2.5-3USD for 10K units ;)

I don't think a direct comparison between the Nordic and PSOC 6 is
useful. Look at overall capabilities of both. PSOC 6 is not just a radio
and a core. That's way oversimplification.

Here is roadmap for PSOC, and less expensive solutions for BLE.
