It really depends. The Tri-Core is powerful but it also isn't exactly fun to use from what I hear. It also depends on the history of the particular product (if all previous models used chip X, you don't really want to switch to chip Y and lose all the hard-earned experience) ...
Try to explain that to management and purchasing who want to save a buck on a high volume product !

Today's high integrated chips use less than 25% or the silicon for the CPU.
Most MCUs have far less than 25% of the silicon area dedicated to the CPU(s). Its hard to find the CPU(s) on most dies, they are such a small part of the total.
