hi guys
I got a few LCDs, i'd like to do something useful with them but I am not able to find the data sheet

they are: Samsung LT142X7-124 Samsung LT141X7-124

do you know a 14,1" 4:3 LCD that has a well known data sheet and fits its mechanical constrains ?

thank you in advance

edit:
wrong P/N, fixed.

Yes, no one is going to be able to find a datasheet for an LCD model that doesn't exist. |O

If you mean the LT141X7 then someone 10 years ago was successful in asking Samsung about it, perhaps you should try the same.

There's plenty of 14.1" LCDs: http://www.panelook.com/sizmodlist.php?sizes%5b%5d=14.1

ops, sorry, the label on the back of both of my panels is horribly overwritten, I was not able to read it clean  :-//
(that is why I was not able to find the data sheet, but I had no idea of the right P/N)

btw, thank you

It seems it has poor data sheet, HP laptop's LCDs seem to have more detailed documentation.
Unfortunately I got a few of Samsung's LCD for a few bunks  :palm:

I did purchase a controller board years back for a laptop display,

This one might work for you:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-AV-VGA-LCD-Controller-Board-Converter-Driver-Kit-for-LT141X7-124-1024X768-/111402181542?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19f01663a6

Probably not the same vendor, and of course it won't do HDCP.

I'll look to see what data I did gathered for mine a while back I might still have it with the description of the lvds cable for mine. But I think mine was a sharp display from a dell, capable of 1920x1200 at 60Hz.

Link to my wine box screen with the controller I got, but probably from a different vendor:

I think this is the vendor I got mine from a long time ago, and he sells just the lvds cable by itself:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DF14-D6-20Pin-LVDS-Cable-for-LCD-Controller-Panel-6Bits-/271022776501?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1a3760b5

The description shows what the pins are for the connector. Seems your display can go up to 1024x768

Edit: mine didn't have the EDID signals connected either but the controller board would select the supported ones, I didn't get the programmer for my controller board because it was just a one off, but the boards that njytouch sells can be reprogrammed and he sells the programmer as well.

One thing, the power supply I got from him, the power cable failed, but I replaced it and the supply is fine.

in my plans, I'd like to design the controller, but I need the LCD pinout and its data sheet.

The last link I posted about the cable only has the pinout, plus you might need to get the lvds cable anyways :)

If you want a custom cable with all the wires populated, i.e. grounds and EDID I think that seller can build custom lvds cables as well.

Edit: Or you can just solder directly to the panel I guess, like this:

http://g3nius.org/lcd-controller/

btw that has good info on how the lvds signals work. And if you use an FPGA try to use dedicated lvds pairs and twist your negative and positive pairs.

Again using a working controller will allow you to look at the signals better so might be worth it for developing your own solution.

I found a datasheet for the Samsung LT141X2-127 used on the Dell Inspiron 7000 14.1" 1024×768

http://www.datasheetarchive.com/dl/Datasheet-039/DSA0074248.pdf

I did try looking for the  LT141X5-126 that was also used on the Powerbook 300 and 400 series but no luck:

http://lcdtech.info/en/data/lcd.panels.in.laptops.htm

But I guess like amyk already suggested if you want the actual datasheet you should send Samsung a request.

So I had a broken LCD screen and I took the actual driver board just for kicks. It's not like yours since this one has a 30 pin LVDS connector.

But it's an Samsung LTN154X so if yours is anything like this it should have the signals on the silk screen and test points that you can solder to if you don't want to make your own LVDS cable. This one is a 30 pin one so the signals don't match your 20 pin one and the ground and VCC are swapped.

But be careful removing the tape covering the board if you want to double check if the signals I linked before match your display (they should). Be specially careful with the connection between the driver board and the actual LCD, those are pretty fragile and the tape covering the LVDS connector does protect them.

I still have a 14" panel from a Powerbook lomard, I don't remember the exact model number, but I do remember I did see a datasheet or something like that a few years ago, like 2007 or 2008.

The LTN154X board I did show was taken out of the actual LCD so that's not the one I'm using, that one was only a 1280 x 800.

I will look at details on the one I use that is a WUXGA capable one 1920x1200 that allows full 1080p and still has some pixels left (120) for an UI under or over the video. It's also a bit bigger at 15.1 inches diagonal I think.

too big, I have the constraints of 4:3 14.1", I have to re-use the PowerBook chassis.

As for the timings even if these two have different LVDS interfaces it seems the clocks are the same:

This one uses the same inverter as the LTN141x7-124
http://www.beyondinfinite.com/lcd/Library/Samsung/LTN141XF-L03.pdf

This one uses the same LVDS interface connector as the LTN141x7-124
http://www.beyondinfinite.com/lcd/Library/Samsung/LTN141X8-L02.pdf

I think with all those three datasheets you should be able to drive it.
