That's great!  Just wanted to confirm your meaning, as I have a MSP432P401R board in-hand (from a previous purchase).  You're saying that the
MSP430G2-Code-Composer-Studio-Promotion license will support the MSP432P401R board, too?

Thanks again!

According to this, I believe so:
http://43oh.com/2016/09/free-code-composer-studio-license-with-a-launchpad-g2-purchase/

Funny enough, I bought the red msp432 board at the same time, just to find out it was out of stock (well, they send it later), the msp430 I also got an delivery date of mid-october, but according to the order status, its shipped, and comes to my door tomorrow.

The compiler's price tag of $495 is grossly inflated. You can always download gcc in place of the TI compiler, in case you are not aware.

having said that, a superb compiler for two cups of coffee isn't a bad deal.

Does TI actually have their own ARM compiler, or does CCS re-package gcc (or someone else's)?
(I know that the MPS430 CCS compiler is different than the MSP430 gcc.)

The one possible down-side is, if I recall correctly, someone said a while back that many of the MSP432 launchpads that were being sold have older revision MSP432 silicon on them and that those older revision ICs had some significant errata.  I haven't had the time to check out the current / past errata lists for the part and see what revisions have been recently shipped.  Perhaps it is not a problem at this time.

Maybe that's why they are now read?, and black before?, well, have to wait for fedex to find out.

Good news!  I emailed TI Support, and they replied...

Thanks for letting us know of this issue. There was a problem with the TI store site which has now been corrected. Please empty your cart and re-order.

Tried again, and everything worked fine (no "out of stock" message). Order placed!

YMMV

I was finally able to order. The Launchpad itself was listed as out of stock but it let me put the order in anyway. I've already received the software activation e-mail but the Launchpad hasn't shipped. The MSP430G2 Launchpad I had ordered earlier this week arrived the next day by Fedex from US to Canada. I'm sure the shipping itself must have cost them more than the $9.99 than I paid (shipping was free to me).

The G2 Launchpad used to be $4.30 including fast international shipping until a couple of years ago.

This thread is about the MSP432 (ARM) LaunchPad, not the MSP430 one.

(Which was on sale for $4.32 for a while, but without free shipping, and of course without the $445 compiler license which is the reason this is a good deal.)

I know. I was replying to the post just above mine which mentioned the price of the G2.

As a data point, both my black MSP432 Launchpads are fitted with revision B silicon (the old, buggy, half unsupported one).
They have been shipped January 2016.

i fell for it, again  |O (I hope the compiler can also be used outside the monster).

They may be buggy, but the black ones look cooler. That's what really matters. ;-)

Back when TI were a bit more generous with the samples it was easy to upgrade the microcontroller on a Launchpad.

TI is still very generous with samples.  You can get 5 free MSP432P401RIPZR chips any time you want, although it seems like a challenge to swap them.

The CCS licence allows two MAC addresses to be registered. Does this mean I would be allowed to use it on two PCs? Or installed on two machines but only run on one of them at a time?
