Cyclone 10CL016 on Arduino MKR?
« on: August 14, 2018, 08:37:50 am »
From time to time I have this urge to start on an FPGA project ... usually I just wait for the urge to go away  :P

Can anyone comment on the usefulness/wow-factor of the Cyclone 10CL016 included on the Arduino MKR 4000:
https://store.arduino.cc/arduino-vidor-4000

is that FPGA big enough for hobby and/or serious designs that are out there and built for e.g. Xilinx spartan3 or spartan6? Is it straightforward to take VHDL for Xilinx spartan and us it for Cyclone?

thanks!

That FPGA with 16k LEs, 504kB ram, 56 multipliers, 4 plls is well prepared for almost any hobby design, imho (.. it always depends what you want to design, of course..) :)

PS: Intel Cyclone and Microchip ATSAMD.. Weird :)
