I've started reading through a datasheet for one of the Hercules mcu's from TI, and while I'm not understanding every detail I can see that there is plenty of error protection built into every part of it but I'm yet to find information on what actually happen's when there is an error other than a fault signal and some registers being written.

Has anyone got any experience of these mcu's that can give me a low down on what using then entails ?, do they need additional governing circuitry to manage faults, are they mostly self correcting and seamless to the user and do they require specific code to deal with errors ?

I have a starter kit on order so hopefully get to play soon as it seems that is the easiest way to get some appreciation of how they work.
