hi
i am still looking for a good eprom emulator, something that
  • is faster than 1Mbps
  • is able to handle 3.3V/5V
  • is USB driven

EE-TOOLS EeRom-8U, 8-bit EPROM/Flash emulator up to 8M-45ns USB port, is exactly what i am looking for !
it is 10Mbps, it is 3.3V/5V and it is USB driven !

the only defect: the protocol is not documented, it is not open, you can only use this device on Windows !

for my purpose i need to connect the eprom emulator to a linux MIPS/SoC, so i need sources, perhaps, i need to know the protocol in order to drive the usb-device

anybody knows this eprom emulator ? anybody knows something about its protocol ? any hack around ?

Did you try an app like USB port Sniffer (http://www.eltima.com/products/usb-sniffer/)?

You need to reverse engineer the protocol, test and develop new software...

I just wonder, because you seem to dive quite deep into electronics, if it may be an alternative to develop your own:

Big SRAM with bus isolators and a STM32F4 to program it, it has HS interface. or using one of those FT2322 or similar, they go up to 12 Mbps or similar.

I also need something like this, but for only 8 to like 32 kBytes and 16 bit :)

Just for curiosity: what was your end choice?
