Everything including the Kitchen sink under $1
« on: December 25, 2015, 10:14:13 pm »
Hello,

I recently picked up a microcontroller project that had some more cost constraints than I normally work with. After some research about what is out there. It got me thinking what is packed into a cheap microcontrollers these days.

Post your find for the microcontroller under a $1 for 1ku with the most features. Here are a couple of my picks.

Microchip PIC16LF1709
Microchip PIC16F1764
Microchip PIC16F1619
Cypress CY8C21123-24SXIT
Silicon Labs EFM32ZG110F32
Texas Instruments MSP430G2332IRSA16R

What can everyone else find?

Digikey has some devices listed, see through pages 1 - 70:

There are quite a few processors to choose from, from 8-bitters to 32-bitters. You just need to decide what features are needed to meet the requirements. And sometimes you just have to look for higher price MCU or think alternative solutions.

Lol,

Kalvin I agree 100%, but I have finished that project. This is just for fun to find the most "feature packed" cheap MCU's out there and what kind of applications or place they have in the market. 10 years ago I was overjoyed with a ok 8bit ADC and a couple of timers, now it is awesome what is out there for under $1.

Few months ago Cypress had a campaign for PSoc 4200 at $1. I bought a few eval-kits (sticks) for $4 each, but haven't had time to try them yet.

Freescale's cortex M0s were excellently priced, of course no idea if NXP will maintain the price structure going forward. For now they are still cheap.

MKE04Z8VFK4 for instance.
