AndyTurk, sorry if I've upset you.

The code is not obscure, nor is it lengthy nor uncommented..it deals with I2C.

 I've explained in detail in posting all my code and how it seems to work and stated the problem.

I don't know to get help if I don't show my code before I ask for advice, it is a software coding problem with I2C.

The problem is not a hardware problem, because the the MPU responds correctly to the first sent commands.
