How fast can MPU-style LCD interface go?

As the title suggests, I would like to find out the maximum transfer speed for a MPU-style LCD interface with an interface chip that has internal VRAM. From the iMX233 manual NXP suggests that that type of display interface does not run fast enough for a video output, so how fast can they run?
